The Yellow Wallpaper Review

REVIEW

This story was fantastic! The version I read was only 21 pages long, but it packed a punch! It has been a little under a week since I read it and I still think about it!

The Yellow Wallpaper is a literary masterpiece that captivates the reader from start to finish. Charlotte perfectly depicts the horror of not knowing if you are descending into madness. Is this woman haunted, mad, or being gaslit by her husband?

The imagery in this book is so vivid that it makes me feel like I am stuck in that room with nothing but me and some horrid yellow wallpaper. I could not stop reading and was disappointed when the story came to an end.

I also enjoyed the dialogue and themes of gender inequality and the societal repression of women's autonomy during the 1800s, which feels ever present even now in 2023.

It was haunting, Gothic, and beautifully written. Overall, 'The Yellow Wallpaper' is a piece of literature that will be staying with me for a long long time.
