Review

A cabin isolated in the woods, an ancient entity, and a family secret.

This book was SO good! In my opinion, it was 100 percent worth all of the hype! Stolen Tongues is one of the scariest horror novels I’ve ever read. This book had the cold winter vibes that I love to experience in books coupled with horrific scenes that made me want to sleep with the lights on.

I knew I was going to love this book the second I finished the prologue! It was so eerie and intriguing. I was gripped from the very beginning. It took me three days to finish, and it was extremely hard to put down.

I live in the woods, and it definitely made me feel like I was being watched as I was going to bed at night. The atmosphere in this story is incredible. The cabin looks idyllic, however, something dark lurks in the shadows. An isolated setting always makes things scarier, and you don't know whether something is actually there or whether it is all in the Character's heads. I love this constant conflict.

Our main character Felix is very relatable in his reactions to the events. He reacts logically and you can feel his emotions and empathy for his situation. You are rooting for him the entire time. One element of this book that surprised me was the amount of character development there was, and I didn't expect there to be mysteries to solve in addition to the horror.

This book was bone-chillingly scary. It had some great gore scenes coupled with haunting elements that gave me jump scares. The gore scenes did include body horror so keep that in mind. I thought the author did a great job of balancing the bloody horror with the psychological horror to create a story that had different terrifying elements.

I can’t sing enough praise for this book. I will now be picking up anything else Felix writes.

If you love horror movies, jump scares, and family mysteries, you NEED to read this book this winter!
