Review
Not all of the stories held my attention, so I found it took me a very long time to read this book. The individual stories were a hit or miss—three of the stories I enjoyed and three of them I didn’t like. My favorite stories in this collection were Man in Slices and Presto. My least favorite was A Mix-Up at the Zoo.
TW: Descriptive animal death.
What I liked:
All of the stories take place in one town.
The setting is so spooky and atmospheric
Man in slices + Presto were fantastic stories!
The prologue and Epilogue were intriguing.
What I didn’t like:
Some of the endings felt rushed, and I was left wanting more.
The characters didn’t feel fully developed.
Some of the stories felt too long, even though they were around 50-60 pages in length.
Overall I give this book 3 stars. Below is my rating for each story.
Man in slices: 4.5/5
Kamp: 2.5/5
Happy Birthday, Hunter!: 3/5
Presto: 4.5/5
A Mix-Up at the Zoo: 2/5
Hedges: 4.5/5
