Review

In Antarctic Ice Beasts we follow a group of seven people as they manage the U.S. science base in Antarctica. Winter is a miserable time to be stationed here and everyone is already on edge because of a massive storm. After the ground quakes with an awful screech our characters are thrown into a freezing nightmare and are now fighting for survival against creatures unknown.

Antarctic Ice Beasts was a total cover buy and it was a fun creature feature! If you love The Thing then I think you will enjoy this. While the setting is similar, the creatures involved are very different. This book had two things that I almost always love, cold places and monsters.

Some parts of this timeline were hard to follow for me so it was not a home run. I did like the monsters and the setting.

I LOVED the ending. I have not read a creature feature with an ending like it before.

I will definitely be reading more from Hunter Shea in the future. All-in-all it was a good first novella of 2023!
